Abraham Cowley: The Essays and Other Prose Writings edited by Alfred B. Gough c1915

 

Abraham Cowley was an English poet and essayist born in the City of London late in 1618. He was one of the leading English poets of the 17th century. He began to publish when he was only twelve and was a strong royalist, One of his most famous and controversial works is an epic poem on the history of the English Civil War written from a decidedly royalist slant.
